Brian Allen replied to Harold Kyle's discussion How do you calculate your paper overage?
"I generally print 25% extra, to both account for spoilage and to have samples for the designer and for myself. I know that's a lot, but it lowers the stress level! I created a spreadsheet with at least 10 parent sizes so I can calculate how…"

About Me:
I had a career in digital font production, from 1982-2005, at Autologic, Imagen, IBM, Monotype Imaging. I've been involved with calligraphy and the arts of the book since the mid-70s. So I have one foot in the 15th Century and one in the 21st. Typography is my great love.
I lived in the SF Bay area from 1998-2005 and loved being a part of the book arts community there (SFCB in particular).
I live in Durham, NC now, and after surviving cancer have greatly simplified my life to focus on creating art and leaving a legacy. I enjoy sharing what I know about letterpress and typography. I have a studio in the Golden Belt Arts complex (http://www.goldenbeltarts.com/). My Gietz press (Swiss) is a thing of wonderment!
