"Hello India, I would like to help you out a bit with my own experience. First of all, what camera do you use? I seriously recommend using a digital SLR, that is a professional interchangeable lens camera, and you can do away with a used one, with…"

Taking photos of your work

Hello printers!I decided to start uploading some of my photos to my page on LOLP this morning. This reminded me of how much I hate taking photos of my prints! My question to all of you isLIf you have to take them yourself in your home or shop, what are your strategies for getting decent looking images? Some of the problems I always run into:-Distortion -- the straight sides of rectangular sheets of paper look curved. I was introduced to letterpress printing at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts when I was 15, through a great program that paired teenagers with book artist mentors.

In college I did two years of a printmaking degree. I eventually switched majors and am finishing my studies in art history at Brigham Young University.

I'm spending a year of my program abroad at the Conservatorio de las Artes del Libro at the LLOTJA school in Barcelona, Spain. Right now I'm cleaning up an abandoned Spanish platen press from the 1940s.

I've been able to intern in letterpress printing and bookbinding. One of the things I'm considering after finishing my degree is an apprenticeship. Please contact me if you're looking!
