Jen Starshaped replied to Debbie Karnes's discussion Does stripping and refinishing a 100 year old type chest ruin it's value?
"I say go for it! We either refinish or paint most of our type banks to clean them up and give the studio a cohesive look. Many printers do, and rehabbed ones will still have the same value, if not more. And honestly, type cases are a dime a dozen so…"

We've got an internship

Hi Ladies,

Starshaped Press is looking for an intern to start anytime in the near future, and thought we'd try here first!

We are located in Chicago and work strictly with hand set metal and wood type. We have an extensive type collection that is a living, breathing monster in our studio that needs to be maintained. Duties would include sorting, setting, organizing, labeling, proofing and otherwise monitoring the type (mostly metal) so that we can make sure that it all gets used… Continue

I'm apa #797 and went to my first wayzgoose last summer. Not sure if I can make out to the one in September- I'm an east coast-er.
But I did meet Paul Aken last summer, and really want to get out to visit his museum!
