Is this called printing? Is type set considered letterpress only? What you your opinions? Thank you so much for your input.See More

"It's pretty easy to find (or make) a treadle! I made one out of a u bolt/metal rod and an old metal table leg, it works great. or there are usually a few on ebay, or google them. the treadle is easier to control (for me) than the motor, and in…"

"Thank you Mare. The press doesn't have a treadle (sadly) and the motor he gave me is broken. I took the motor just for a reference when I get is up and running. I'm not sure what to do with it yet. Thank you again very much :)"

mare blocker replied to Melinda F's discussion Is there such a thing as "timing" on a platen press?

I just got a 8x12 C&P old style press from a sweet little elderly man this weekend. The press is assembled accept for the flywheel and flywheel shaft. He told me to call him when I want to put the flywheel back onto the press....he said to call him so he can set the timing. What does that mean? Anyone know? Thank you for your input :)See More

About Me:
Working on my BFA in sculpture. I got to attend a letterpress class for one day (it was sadly cancelled for summer semester) but I was hooked! Took a book workshop with Robin Price last year. Hoping to set some type and start mini-printing soon. Happy to be here :)
