Kate will be on her way to Boston June 21st, where, in her words (which we totally agree with!) she will "view this conference as an invaluable experience to gain inspiration from our peers, knowledge about upcoming trends, and advice from…

New Type on the Cob Classes Added!

We’ve added two new classes: 4-Up with a Side of Bearers with Marnie Powers-Torrey and Claire Taylor from Red Butte Press at the University of Utah, and Commercial Platen Press Printing with LoLP’s own Kseniya Thomas! Marnie and Claire will, in two short sessions, take you from setting type to printing a booklet on one of Printers Hall’s venerable handpresses, and Kseniya will teach you, in one even shorter session, how to get a job with a deadline up and running on a platen press. About Me:
I'm the owner of Thomas-Printers, a letterpress and design shop, and YonderYest, a letterpress wedding invitation company, in Carlisle, PA. I print for companies, designers, individuals, and myself.

I was first introduced to letterpress printing while an apprentice at the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz, Germany, where they have many fabulous flatbed presses not really available here. When I returned to the US, after a bit of moving around, I opened Thomas-Printers; my three platen presses date from the early 20th century.

Aw, thank you! Still waiting for an email back about my offer. The press is at The Arm in Brooklyn, and they had that crazy snowstorm, so I think that's why it's taking so long. Not sure if they've re-opened. They don't have a phone number, either. So, yes, keep those fingers crossed.

Kseniya,

Thank you soo much for your kind note about my book. It means so much to get positive feed back from people who are working in the field and making it happen! I was so pleased when I talked to Eileen and she told me how much you liked it. I'd love to sell you one of the edition.

I might also pick your brain in the near future about going abroad. My boyfriend and I are starting to think about post-graduation plans and time in Germany might be on the list.

Thanks again. It means so much to me.

Thanks for looking. The drawers look so pretty on the outside.....but horror of horrors....when I moved into my new studio, someone tipped one of my type cases on its side....everyone froze when we heard the sounds of cascading lead bits hitting the floor.
