Support for Steve Miller

We learned this morning that our friend and colleague, Steve Miller, has lost his home in the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa, Alabama yesterday. Steve and his partner Des are safe, but we have no further details at this time.(Steve teaches letterpress printing and book arts at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa).

Ladies of Letterpress at the National Stationery Show!

The Ladies of Letterpress will be back in force at this coming National Stationery Show, happening May 15-18!  We're thrilled to have eleven presses showing their very fine work this year--nine of them for the first time--in booths 2362-2368.

Karl Lagerfeld is making a new "bookish" fragrance

Who knew that Karl Lagerfeld has more than 300,000 books in his library? As a book lover, he's about to create fragrance called Paper Passion... and yes, it will smell like books, and will actually be housed inside a book for its packaging:

What are Nokia and wood type doing in the same sentence?

Nokia, sort of charmingly concerned with smartphone aesthetics, has released a new typeface called Nokia Pure, whose fluid shape takes cues from handwriting and is designed to work better across various 2-D platforms; the site says "It has been designed specially for mobile and digital environments." Pure seems like it would also do well with a little letterpress treatment:
