One serendipitous day, I found a teetering stack of letterpress job cases in front of one of the local antique and furniture shops at unbelievably low prices. Most of the time, these trays go for anywhere between 30 and 50 dollars, depending on size and condition. But I snagged some large Hamilton-brand California job cases for 18 bucks. Quite a find!…Continue

I don't often post things for sale, but this tote bag from our friends at A. Favorite is too good not to mention:
I recently visited Taiwan to visit family, and I had a chance to learn more about the state of letterpress printing in Taiwan. Apparently it's not undergoing a revival as it is here in the US, and is in danger of disappearing altogether. I first visited MBMore, a printmaking and letterpress gallery and…Continue

I've sent out the message, but here's a reminder:
As we gear up to have the best letterpress conference imaginable, we have one more element to add to the festivities - a gallery exhibit of printed work by each of you, our awesome LoLP members! The exhibit will be shown at the Asheville BookWorks Gallery from July 15th until September 1st, with a reception and wine social scheduled for August 5th, during the conference.
In order to showcase all the varieties…Continue

I know, but this summer I am trying to keep up with all of these internet things I started.
I can't even get around to leaving the house today.
But I have a site where you can see the postcards I have been printing as part of the Keep Writing Project. I wil be adding more this weekend maybe even with a tutorial of how to make an instant book. Maybe.
If I don't go visit a friend on Avery Island…Continue

My husband, Ray, and I have an interesting Kickstarter project that looks like it's going to fly. I'd like to let everyone know about it and hopefully get some involvement from the "Ladies of Letterpress".
During the summer when Ray was the coordinator of the Visual Communications Group at the University of Delaware, he and I would take two dozen design students to London for five weeks of design visits as well as a couple of short breaks for personal travel.
We've liked the…Continue

We all know we do dangerous work, especially those of us with platens: we all know, at some level, that one false move and our hands are mush. At the same time, it's so easy to almost trust these machines and think of them as friends, since they help us make beautiful things and help us…Continue
Hi, all--Just wanted to let you know about a letterpress/ book project I've launched on Kickstarter.com. I have 40 days left to fund the project, which is a limited edition book based on my travels from San Antonio to Santa Fe. I'm exploring sites of dynamic transformation--they were once…Continue

FPBA is looking for letterpress-printed goodies for the next issue of Parenthesis, scheduled for printing this summer. Even if you don't consider yourself a fine-press printer, this is a good chance to share your work with folks who might not see it otherwise. The…Continue
