For over forty years, Women’s Studio Workshop (WSW) has provided studio space to artists interested in working in printmaking, hand papermaking, silkscreen, ceramics, letterpress, photography, and book arts. WSW’s programming includes residencies and internships for artists at all stages of their careers; Summer Art Institute workshops in all studio disciplines; and year-round ceramics workshops.

WSW’s mission is to operate and maintain an artists’ workspace that encourages the voice and vision of individual women artists, provides professional opportunities for artists at various stages of their careers and promotes programs designed to stimulate public involvement, awareness and support for the visual arts.

Artists may work in WSW's letterpress studio for each of the following residencies:

 

The Studio Residency Grant is a six- to eight-week residency for artists to create new work in any of our studio disciplines: intaglio, letterpress, papermaking, screenprinting, photography, or ceramics. WSW invites applications from artists at any stage in their careers.This grant includes a stipend of $350/week, up to $500 for materials used during the residency, up to $250 for travel within the Continental US, free onsite housing, and 24/7 studio access. Notification date: via email by June 30

Residency length: 6-8 weeks

Residency occurs: 1-2 years after application, September through June

 

The Studio Workspace Residency is a four- to six-week opportunity for artists to work in any of our studio disciplines: intaglio, letterpress, papermaking, screenprinting, photography, or ceramics. For this residency, artists pay $200/week, plus materials, in exchange for onsite housing and 24/7 studio access. Artists are given a thorough studio orientation at the beginning of their residency, but should be able to work independently. http://bit.ly/1J1Vfxd

Length of residency: 4-6 weeks

Residency occurs: the year following application, February through June

 

 

The Art-in-Ed Workspace Residency is a five-week opportunity for artists with teaching experience; knowledge of intaglio, silkscreen, or hand papermaking; and an interest in creating their own work while also working with local school students. Artists may choose to work on their own projects in any of our studio disciplines. Artists teach in WSW’s studios two days/week for three weeks and visit the students twice in school. In exchange for teaching, residents receive onsite housing and 24/7 studio access during non-AIE sessions. Fall residents work with high school students. http://bit.ly/1IXnADD
