Hi Marina,I held a contest on facebook and we named her Mrs. Mia Wallace.In Quintin Terantino’s 1993 film Pulp Fiction, Mia Wallace is a saucy little tart and Marcellus Wallace’s wife. She messes up every now and again, but always comes back to life and is ready for a joke. It just seemed fitting 🙂 For those that like the classic names, Mia can…[Read more]

Hi Marina,I’ve been printing on these for the past 5 months and they have pros and cons.Pros:- super affordable- fast shipping- accepts impression well- photographs wellCons:- printing surface is fluorescent white. I print mainly with “pearl white” paper, so in comparison the coasters look… cheap. However by themselves they look fine.- edges are…[Read more]

@minnastubina Hi Minna,
I just saw your chat. I would recommend the tabletop for certain things, but not for all types of letterpress printing. I’m not sure about the one you’re looking at, but I have one and it’s great for wood cuts, linoleum blocks, and large type. Not great for fine printing or for printing large quantities (quickly). Let me…[Read more] -

Hey I’m in the exact same situation! I’m getting a C&P 8×12 as well and while I’ve used Vandercooks a lot am pretty new to C&Ps. I believe the counter that goes into the lock up is not meant to be printed onto your paper. I think you’re supposed to set them outside of the printing area. Didn’t even know these counters existed until I visited my…[Read more]

Christy have you come up with a name yet? I’ve been thinking about this too.. I bought a Golding Official a few months ago, and I’m not even sure if it’s a male or female yet! I was just going to give it some more time and maybe the right name will come, just like the shop name hopefully will! ~Marina.

We use Colorplan from GF Smith very often for letterpress jobs. Comes in 50 shades in 8 substances. It is my understanding that it is now also stocked in the USA.Otherwise check colorplanpapers.comChristiaan Janssen / passion for paper

I’ve just acquired a C&P 8×12 Oldstyle that I’m cleaning up and bringing into printing condition. If you have compatible automatic counters, I might want to buy one, too.I’m more interested in the kind of counters that keep track of how many prints have been run than the ones that go straight into the lockup and print the numbers on the edition. I…[Read more]

I’m not sure if these would be compatible with a Vandercook. I imagine they would work the same because they’re meant to work at type high just like anything else. As long as you don’t crush them too hard with the rollers it’d probably be fine.I’ll send you an email with photos after I get them this Sunday! :] Glad to helpSarah

Yes! Can you email me the pictures? The one that advances automatically sounds like exactly what I am looking for, if it is compatible with a Vandercook.Thanks so much!Samanthasamantha@handdeliverpress.com

I’m actually acquiring a c&p soon and the seller is also giving me a ton of extras they just want gone. They’re actually giving me a few of these counters. Some of them are ones that go right into the lock up, so every time they’re pushed they count a print. I’m picking the press and equipment up on Sunday, I can take pictures of some of these if…[Read more]

Hello,I am thinking about doing a large run of thank you notes and am looking for something more cost effective than the Lettra, and something that folds a bit better. I am just wondering if you ever came up with a solution for this?Thanks!Adina

Marit, unfortunately I will not be attending the conference this year. I wish you the best of luck though! Maybe we can catch up online sometime.

Thanks Gary! Due to some set backs and a cross-country move for me and my husband, no I have not been able to make the transition yet. I hope to in the future. For now I’m still working a full-time day job in the web industry with my stationery company a part-time thing in the evenings.
