  • @margotcudmore Margot,

    Thanks for the message and for the support. I do need the encouragement right now as I was hoping that things would go better than they have. I’ll search the internet for more info on Margaret Lock and her class but if you do have a link or website you could refer me to I’d appreciate it.
    There’s a course I want to take in…[Read more]

  • @akeminishidera Hi Akemi – me too, I can never remember my password! Love the pics.

  • @christinegittings Welcome to the club Christine! I see you’re from the Toronto area too. Have fun learning all about your new press. I remember our first few impressions off our C&P Pilot – good thing my husband is mechanically inclined and loves getting his hands dirty or we’d still be pulling out our hair trying to get it right. I see Marlaine…[Read more]

  • @marlaine Marlaine, I’ve never met Margaret Lock, but I’ve heard she’s amazing! She is really well-respected as both an artist and craftsperson. You will learn a lot from her.

  • @marlaine yes, I”m from Toronto too. I’m fairly new to letterpress. I took my first class with Akemi (Kozo Studio) in Feb, then a few weeks later took a class with Tanya (Snap & Tumble). I’ve taken a second class with Akemi since then. I’d love to have a Vandercook but due to lack of space I settled on the Adana 5 x 8. I’ve only had it a few…[Read more]

    @margotcudmore Hi Margot!
    I’m certain I’ll be needing a lot of time experimenting 🙂 I’m so excited, though [can you tell?!?]
    I’m taking a course with Margaret Lock in Kingston in June, I’m hoping that will give me a good understanding of what I’m going to be doing with my own press.
    Thanks for the contact for polymer plates! I remember Craig…[Read more]

  • Defintely check into the Lettra at Neenah Paper (http://www.neenahpaper.com/CRANE/index.asp?ft=Home); its a GORGEOUS sheet!!!

  • @marlaine Marlaine – I forgot to mention, if you’re using the boxcar base system, we found a polymer plate supplier in Mississauga who is just as good and you don’t have to pay duty. Check out Aries Flexographic and ask for Donna. Where are you thinking of taking your courses? Offering workshops is something we’ve been toying with for a while…

  • @marlaine Thanks for your wonderful comment! Good luck with the courses and good luck with your first press. Don’t be discouraged if the first few impressions are less than perfect. Figuring out how to make them perfect is half the fun.

  • @marlaine Hi Marlaine, You’ll find a lot of letterpress people are graphic designers, such a natural combination. So many are women, too! I see you are in Pickering. It’ nice to see more letterpress making it’s way into Canada. If you are looking for a press Don Black Linecasting, in Scarborough, is a terrific place to check.

    Good luck!
    Gina
