STUDIO RESIDENCY IN MALMÖ, SWEDEN
Women’s Studio Workshop now hosts a four-week residency with two not-for-profit collaborative workspaces in Malmö, Sweden: KKV Grafik Studio and Sculpture Workshop Monumental. Artists can choose to work in one or both studios, depending on their projects. Orientation to each studio is provided, however selected artists must be able to work independently and be familiar with the printmaking and/or sculpture processes they?ll be utilizing. Additional charges may apply if the selected artist needs professional assistance.
Both studios are located in the same building, and artists have 24-hour access to the facilities. Housing is provided in the building?s Sculpture studio section and travel costs, food, and materials are paid by the artist-in-residence.

The Studio Workspace Residency is a four- to six-week opportunity for artists to work in any of our studio disciplines: intaglio, letterpress, papermaking, screenprinting, photography, or ceramics. For this residency, artists pay $200/week, plus materials, in exchange for onsite housing and 24/7 studio access. Artists are given a thorough studio orientation at the beginning of their residency, but should be able to work independently. WSW can provide technical assistance and instruction for $50/hour.

The Art-in-Ed Workspace Residency is a five-week opportunity for artists with teaching experience; knowledge of intaglio, silkscreen, or hand papermaking; and an interest in creating their own work while also working with local school students. Artists may choose to work on their own projects in any of our studio disciplines. Artists teach in WSW?s studios two days/week for three weeks and visit the students twice in school. In exchange for teaching, residents receive onsite housing and 24/7 studio access during non-AIE sessions. Spring residents work with elementary and/or middle school students.

The Chili Bowl Workspace Residency is a four- to six-week opportunity for ceramicists who want to make bowls for our annual Chili Bowl Fiesta. Each February, WSW sells over 900 bowls, mugs, and tumblers at our Chili Bowl Fiesta. The vessels are made and decorated throughout the year by visiting artists, staff, interns, and our weekly clay study group. For this residency, artists pay $100/week and make 50 glazed or 100 bisqued bowls, in exchange for onsite housing and 24/7 studio access. Artists are given a thorough studio orientation at the beginning of their residency, but should be able to work independently and must provide their own materials.

The Ora Schneider Regional Grant is a month-long residency for artists residing in New York State?s Greene, Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, and Orange counties. Artists are welcome to work in any of our studio disciplines, including intaglio, letterpress, papermaking, screenprinting, photography, or ceramics. This grant includes a $1500 stipend and 24/7 studio access. We understand that applicants may not be close enough for a daily commute, so free onsite housing can also be arranged.

This grant includes a $1000 childcare stipend, up to $250 for travel costs, free onsite housing, and 24/7 studio access. WSW can also provide technical advice and production assistance.

The Beisinghoff Printmaking Residency is a four-week opportunity that allows artists to work in a beautiful printmaking studio in Diemelstadt-Rhoden, Germany. This residency affords artists more than just studio time. Images, thoughts, and words from diverse viewpoints come together when artists from different continents converge at Atelierhaus. Barbara Beisinghoff also invites local press for an artists? presentation during the residency.
Accommodation is free of charge and provides artists with an apartment, shared bath, library, kitchen, living room, garden, and sewing/ironing room. The resident pays for travel costs, food, and materials. Artists prepare lunch together.

The Artist?s Book Grant is a six- to eight-week residency for artists to produce a limited edition book work. Working intensively in our studios, artists print and bind their own books, and are encouraged to create an edition size no larger than 100 and no smaller than 50. The grant includes a stipend of $350/week, up to $750 for materials, up to $250 for travel within the Continental US, free onsite housing, and 24/7 studio access. WSW can provide technical advice; training on new equipment, techniques, and materials; and production assistance.

The Art-in-Education Artist?s Book Grant is an eight- to ten-week residency awarded to two emerging artists to create a new artist?s book and teach young people.
Generally, the resident dedicates her first month to producing a limited edition artist?s book, which is hand-printed and bound in the studio. WSW can provide technical advice; training on new equipment, techniques, and materials; and production assistance. During the second half of the residency, the artist works with young people in WSW?s studios, teaching one to two days/week for three to four weeks, and visiting the students twice in school. Studio space and equipment is reserved for students during program hours, but artists may work at any time outside of AIE.
This grant includes a stipend of $400/week for up to ten weeks, up to $750 for materials, up to $250 for travel within the Continental US, free onsite housing, and 24/7 studio access during non-AIE sessions.
