Does anyone have advice on moving a small print shop (NY to MD)?  Basically, it’s a Jones-Gordon job press, about 3 type cabinets, two medium chests, and a few other smaller pieces of furniture.  I’m hoping that, with some muscle, I can do this myself. Am I crazy?

Is the press on a skid? The type cabinets and etc. would not be to hard for you to move. Are you planning on renting a truck with a lift gate?

Thanks for your reply, Camille!  Not sure if the press is on a skid, but I know that the press will have to be taken apart in order to remove it from it’s basement home (they originally brought it in in 5 pieces to get it down the stairs).  I didn’t think of renting a truck with a lift gate ~ good idea!

Niiice site, thanks.  The printer looks a little smaller than mine, but the it’s still moving a hunk of iron! Looking forward to the workout!

    Hi Stephanie,

Did you ever get your press moved? What size is your Jones Gordon press? I couldn’t imagine someone doing it by themselves. Please let me know how the move went and also, if you have any sources for parts for this press.

    Thank you,

    Maria Ayala
