Have just picked up a stack of old wood type. they are covered in years of dirt and grime. Anyone know the best method of cleaning them up? Toothbrush and turps?

You can use a rag slightly dampened with mineral spirits if they’re really grimy, just don’t saturate them and be sure to wipe off any excess when you’re done. Likely they’ll have a patina, that’s part of their charm!
