I just saw the question about cotton paper. I did a business card on Crane Lettra 110# and another on Reich 236# with that same PMS 812. They are actually a lot brighter in person.

If you want to go fluorescent I would recommend a whiter paper to get the brightest look.

Its not as bright as you think it would be. Here is a link to a couple of journals I made with PMS 812 and 540.

    Hi Melanie,

I did not. Currently I am printing on a 10×15 C&P and don’t have plans at this point to print on a Heidelberg.

Do you have a Heidelberg that you don’t know how to use? Or were you hoping to learn first and then purchase your machine?

You may want to contact either Pratt or SVC and see if they can point you in the direction of a teacher.

I was curious about this too. Hopefully someone out there knows so we don’t have to go the lawyer route…

    Thanks Annika,

That looks like beautiful paper, I just sent you and email for a sample of it.

    Hello,

I am thinking about doing a large run of thank you notes and am looking for something more cost effective than the Lettra, and something that folds a bit better. I am just wondering if you ever came up with a solution for this?

    Thanks!

I wonder why I wasnt sent an email with these replies! Thank you everyone. The weird thing is, I think it is my rollers on my C&P. I even took a ton of ink off the press and was still getting the splotchy coverage. I tried it on my 3×5 Kelsey and the ink coverage was great (no impression to speak of though).

I had some soy based ink custom mixed by Great Western Ink and got the same splotchy result on the C&P. Could it be my rollers?

Kseniya, I am going to try your method with my custom ink.

Annika, I would love to have a go-to shimmer paper. I have a curious swatch book that I will try a sample on.

Camille, I had heard about the Tough Tex and called all over my town to find it to no avail. Thank you for the link. I will use that in the future if I print on Stardream again.

Thanks! I ended up using Savoy and it worked great!

Thank you Camille, after doing a bit of research and following your pricing guideline I decided it would just be too expensive to ship this press so I am going to keep looking for something more local to me. This one was a 12×18 C&P. I am going to keep an eye out for either a 10×15 or 12×18 and see what comes up here in Seattle.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Jen,

I am interested in your baby oil method. I had heard of using Crisco but not baby oil. I had heard that Crisco is really good at getting the ink off the rollers and keeping them from drying out between print runs, but is not good to have on your rollers when you are first putting ink on the press (they use mineral spirits for the quick clean right before a job).

Do you use anything on your rollers other than baby oil? Is that what the Ivory soap is for? I am definitely looking for non-toxic solutions.

    Thanks!

Will someone be filming this to put up online? This seems like this information would be a great topic to cover for the greater good on the LOLP website since there are a lot of tabletop press owners, myself included, that wont be able to attend to the conference.

I have no personal experience with this as I am currently awaiting my “starter kit” for my new little 3×5 Kelsey. But I ran across these things called roller bearers which sound like they might be just the thing you need for your ink coverage problems based on your description. I found them at http://excelsiorpress.org/reference/presswork/smallpresswork.html
