Professor of Media Studies, The New School, NYC (emeritus); artist and writer.  I’m turning a life-long fascination with letterpress into a new means of expression within my collaborative art practice, with Jamie Kruse, called smudge studio.  Even though I’m in the midst of attempting to learn how to hand press my work (using new M&H Type), I remain fully fascinated and excited. Very much looking forward to my first LOLP Conference in September 2021.

smudge studio’s artist statement: Inspired by both ancient and contemporary observations of Earth’s time and place in the cosmos, we stage embodied engagements with the planet’s ever-transforming events and conditions — human and nonhuman.
