    It’s pretty easy to find (or make) a treadle! I made one out of a u bolt/metal rod and an old metal table leg, it works great. or there are usually a few on ebay, or google them. the treadle is easier to control (for me) than the motor, and in my heyday I could do about 400 impressions an hour…good luck! it’s always empowering to get an old press up and running.

    Are you using a treadle or a motor to power the press? If you’re using a motor, the drive belt will need to be adjusted to the correct tension. And some motors have adjustable speeds, so perhaps that’s what he’s calling the timing. But I usually think “timing” in this situation is the operator’s hand eye coordination and attention span.
