That seems really really high. I order from Micon Steel Rule die in MA, and sometimes a local guy, and their prices range from around $45 for a simple shape to $140 for a complicated scalloped one.

Hi all – I just looked into ordering a couple dies (from Atlas) to make a rounded corner business card and they wanted $350 for one! Wow – is that normal? Thanks – Sharon

Christen…could you please send me a list of reps too? Thanks in advance.

I can send you a list of reps. I have a list from when I owned a greeting card line. It’s a very small world, so if a rep isn’t taking on new lines, they may be able to refer you to someone. We always preferred to work in independent reps.Email me šĀ

@hildursigurardttir It’s exciting to see you are in Reykjavik. When visiting in 2010 we were looking for letterpress printers to visit with, and found a bookshop/printer near the Dead Gallery, but only stories of other people interested. Congrats, and hope we can meet you next time we visit!

How does one find a decent sales rep (that hopefully knows what letterpress is!)?

For clean-up, I roll as much ink as possible off onto newsprint—put newsprint on the ink disk and let the rollers roll over that; change newsprint and do it again and again, until there is very little ink left to use a solvent on. I use mineral spirits on the press, but I use concentrated CitraSolv on my hands in the sink. That works very well.

Definitely the Stationery Show and sales reps! At least to get things rolling… Don’t expect a huge amount of orders from the show, but hopefully, if you attract a few key stores, sales reps will want to rep you…Good Luck!

For acrylic-based, I’ve used this once at the local book arts center to get a silver metallic off my hands:Ā http://www.pressmanspride.com/reallyworks6-45lb.aspx It worked amazingly well but seems pretty expensive.
