I have cork floors and I have my Golding on a small 3″ high platform that is on wheels. The wood platform is just large enough to hold my press. It has hard rubber wheels so it will not damage the cork floor. I have the wood piece varnished heavily so if I get a drop of oil I have a bit of time before I have to worry about it. I never have to worry about oil hitting my floor.I don’t tote my press all over the room, but I do occasionally like to pull it out a bit further and the wheels are awesome for that!

If the postal service will mail a coconut or a beach ball I can’t imagine that they care just how thick a postcard is.As long as the proper postage is atatched I believe they will mail just about anything. So maybe it has to be 16mil to qualify for postcard postage.

I have a newer pearl. It is a 7X11 and has a throw off. (It is very pretty)I like how it feels petite only 730 lbs. , and it is upstairs in my studio, but it’s a treadle and I can get a nice deep impression if that’s what I’m after.

I’m going to reply to my own post here, because I actually found the answer on my own today.I called the company — what I learned is that although the thing the guy sold me was called CA Ultra–and refered to as California Ultra–it is not California wash, and not made by Varn. It is not water miscible.Maybe this seems obvious–but since I asked the question I thought I would follow up with the answer.
