Those are the sizes I use–from American Coaster, right? I’ve also die-cut the 4″ square ones to 2.5″ and 3″ circles. The thickest ones seem to crack under all but the largest plates, so next round, I’m ordering medium . . .

@caroljblinn Hi Carol! I think we met at an Oak Knoll fest a couple years ago–I still have your pretty bookmarks hung up in the shop. 🙂

Hey Krissy-I use vegetable oil for the last run of the day, since it’s too oily to use between colors. Many printers also use Crisco, which is the same principle, I guess. I also have some Soysolv from Daniel Smith lurking around the shop, which I clean the ink glass with. It works great (not sure what it does to rollers, but probably nothing),…[Read more]

This is a great tip. You’d think that it wouldn’t matter with a transparent ink, but hard experience teaches otherwise! Thanks for saving us from having to learn the hard way. :)I did a couple pieces last year that called for saturated, jewel-like color that was still translucent (not quite the solids found in the Pantone book), so we found that…[Read more]

I don’t know about packaging (beyond good old Uline), but I do know that the rubber ink won’t run! It takes longer to dry, but is as hard as anything.

They get boxed separately, most of the time. Sometimes I just wrap them in matching paper . . .

They are big enough–I get the 8x8x4 ones, which fits about 100 A7 invites, and then fill the empty space with cornstarch peanuts or zigzag paper.

I get mine from Uline.com, source of everything packaging (who knew tape could be so interesting?)–I like the pinstrip Kraft ones. I have been looking for a recycled version, but haven’t had any luck finding them in bulk yet . . .

Kseniya Thomas replied to the topic shipping costs in the forum Business Matters 15 years, 10 months ago
I use UPS almost exclusively as well, for several reasons: you can insure the shipment for its full value, the tracking is 100x better that that available through USPS, and they’ll pick up. If cost isn’t an issue, I’m happy to ship things USPS, but, especially with very expensive stationery, the fact that it’s insured and trackable is worth the…[Read more]

I second Bev–it’s key to research and ask questions, and the value of getting started, messing up, and learning from those experiences is impossible to exaggerate. You also have to keep going through the days you don’t want to continue, or are discouraged or fed up, since, cliche as it sounds, the rewards are worth it.
