I have same problem, the square bit across the top is always gaping. I found an awesome on on Etsy from misohappi http://www.etsy.com/shop/misohappi?ref=seller_info.It had a gathered neckline (Pic attached) I love it! Although its a tad dirty now… I just looked at her shop and she doesn’t have the design there anymore but gathered neck is the…[Read more]

Kerry,Hello! Once the bug bites, you’re a goner! =) So I did a search on Briar Press and you should check this particular message post. It talks about the Kelsey Victor. From what I glanced at in the post, Kelsey purchased these presses from Cook- best of luck on whatever you decide!http://www.briarpress.org/15060Look at this link as well:…[Read more]

In the past I’ve also ganged up all my designs before sending out the file. This time, though, I only had 4 really simple rectangular pieces, and I really wanted to get started printing rather than fiddling around with designs, so I sent them off individually.I was so anxious to get started that I didn’t include a matching design for the…[Read more]

My photopolymer platemaker tells me to set the width of my file to 13″ and fill it up from there, because no matter what the plate is going to come out on that width. I rotate and cram in as much as I can to set the plate up as short as I can using that width, and have never bothered with more than a few pixels of margin (enough so I can visibly…[Read more]

HI Mark, I just got some samples of the 58pt creative board and 35pt Barley. I really like them. would your company be willing to do split packages if anyone else here at LOP would be interested in splitting a package?

Sorry about the bad info. I got my blocks too, and at least the maple plank block really is type high. However, they are getting them from http://www.art-boards.com and marking them up slightly.

Just got my blocks from Graphic Chemical. They are exactly the same Speedball brand blocks as can be found anywhere, 7/8″ high, not type high. Crap.

I have used linoleum on both my vandercook 4 and chandler price 10 x 15 for years. I found the easiest thing for me is to use unmounted linoleum and secure it to a wooden base with rubber cement. I reuse the wooden base on all linocut projects and peel off the linoleum to store it. I start with the old gummed-up base, put a layer of rubber cement…[Read more]

I create lines on the reverse side of where the edge of the paper will be trimmed down and register that way… Also – mylar on top so it doesn’t punch through as much

Thanks Phoebe,That makes sense since I was charged for the side margins and not the top and bottom margins (where my plates were probably cut away from others). I already cut the plates apart, so that’s that.Gilly

This sounds normal. There needs to be margin in between your designs and the edge of the plate. Otherwise, there will be light leaks from the side of the negatives which would affect the designs on the edge of your plate. I would have to see your plate to be sure though.
