Hi Yvonne, there’s also a place in Portland that makes the plates, Beaver Engraving. I think they’re about the same price as Boxcar. I haven’t tried them yet. may save you shipping. They also do magnesium mounted on cherry wood.

Lily Smith-Kirkley replied to the topic Poster Printing in Central Texas? in the forum Job Advice 13 years, 1 month ago
This is a really late response but I can print posters up to 14x20in and I’m in Dallas. Casey McGarr / Inky Lips Press has moved to Arkansas. He’s great and I’m sure he’ll work with anyone long distance but if you’re looking for a Dallas letterpress print shop call me, Lilco Letterpress.http://www.lilcoletterpress.comThanks!Lily

Are the Lemon Drop A2s still available? I’d like them. Also, let me know if you have any pre-cut A2 stock. Thanks!

Try adding a hint of light blue ink into the white ink. The blue helps it stand out on the brown kraft paper. Hope that’s what your looking for!dee

Actually, a flat spot on a Morgan Expansion truck would merely have the roller ride harder on the form. A flat spot on a roller (caused by leaving the rollers on the ink disk) will cause complete non-inking that does move around. I changed out a roller with a flat spot and it vastly improved things–now to get rid of the other roller that has a…[Read more]

Yup! That’s exactly what happened. The trucks sitting on the rails created a flat spot (they’re taped up so there’s some cushion). That solved the problem!

@corianderreisbord Coriander – it’s SO nice to hear from you and know that you will be creating more terrific pieces – that is the plan, right? I expect that for the last few years making children happy was your main work, along with your conservation work – and now it will be a treat to hear from you.Â
All good wishes,

@patriciawakida Hey lady! I sent you a message at wasabipress@yahoo but I don’t know if you use that anymore. It’s kind of spammy anyway; I’m starting a new thing and I’m so anxious about it so I’m telling everyone I know so that they can write back and be all excited so that I can feel momentarily less totally doomed. Too many so’s in that…[Read more]

I used white on kraft for a holiday postcard. Luckily I didn’t have anything intricate printing in white so I was able to use a lot of ink, but it still won’t be as opaque as the screen printed versions you see. If you find an ink that works better, let me know!RhondaColor Box Design & Letterpress

Pardon my frumpy production questions but:How long are the print runs you intend?Big Solids?Need to print quickly?Have a lot of time to devote to printing?Frankly, from a production point of view, I’d certainly recommend the C&P’s, but if you’re biggest run in 30 or so pieces, better to devise a frisket/register system for the Challenge or Poco. …[Read more]
