Postcard coasters are 3 7/8″ x 5 3/8 with rounded corners — the ones I have are medium weight. Though heavy weight is available. Calender is an idea I had. We could each do 1 month if we came up with 12 people.. but we could do something else instead if some one has a good idea for it?

Ah, I get it about postcard coasters. Yes, I would be interested in doing them.I was first thinking that these would be 4x6ish coaster-paper with rounded corners. . .still drinking coffee 🙂

Thank you for your honesty. This will be my first press and I want to make sure I am getting one that will serve my purposes for years to come. I would love to get a C&P but I am having trouble finding one. I guess I will just keep hunting.

Maybe try Rising museum board? Legion paper carries it and it comes in up to 8-ply in a variety of colors. Not sure about minimum orders or price though.

A quick google search yields this: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=duplex+paper+black+white&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=16776469609029545379&sa=X&ei=UJwdTp7OJ4nHgAeJzPnqCQ&ved=0CFAQ8wIwAw So, I wonder if you could talk to someone at Neenah?

I’ve seen their 120# cover which is far to light for this job. But since you said that, I called them up to see if they could custom make it. Turns out they can but they have a 15,000 pound minimum and they only sell to merchants. Â : (Â Thanks anyway!

I’m not sure about the details (price, weight, etc.), but I know Mohawk offers duplex cardstocks – http://www.mohawkpaperstore.com/.

I know! I can’t wait to try it! The client changed her mind and wants black on white, but I will absolutely keep this in mind for when I need to do the reverse. Thanks, Sheree!

Woah, this is excellent! I guess there’s some sort of coating on the So Silk that makes the white “float” better?

Most white on black turns out like painting milk on a blackboard, with one exception I have found–using Van Son Opaque White on a paper called “So . . . Silk” produces amazingly opaque results. For some reason, the ink has an affinity for the paper. “So . . . Silk” is available through Legion Paper (or http://www.letterpresspaper.com).

Oh! I didn’t know there was a term for that. Thank you, Camille!

Skip feed means skipping an impression to double ink your form.

Thanks for the tips!Varnish or transparent while is a good idea. I might go with that.I was thinking of foil, too. I’ll have to talk to them about budget options if I do that, I suppose. It would also be the first time I would work with foil, which would be fun (hopefully?). Oh, but one thing, what does “skip feed” mean?Thank you!Samantha

The best advice is not to do it! Silver with some white in it is more opaque, but for bright white on black, foil is the best option. If the client is ok with a grayish white, you can hit it twice or skip feed, or lay down a layer of transparent white or clear varnish and then run the white.

Samantha Urbanick replied to the topic Wacom Tablet in InDesign? in the forum Design Side 14 years, 1 month ago
Hmm. Yes, I’m still learning InDesign so I guess it didn’t occur to me that I would need Illustrator in order to do drawings. I wanted to buy that anyway, so maybe I’ll spring for both. I just imagine how great it would be making drawings into plates… Thanks for your response!
