Hi Diana,I had not heard of Letterpress Light. That process looks very interesting. I wonder how she achieves the impression with unlimited colors? Do you know what a Compression Plate System is? Her website is a little vague. Thanks for the tip on the ink jet. I have an Epson 1400 too and I will start to test some of my designs.

I was hoping to learn to use a Heidelberg as well, though I live in Seattle. Anyone know of someone willing to train in the Northwest?

How would ink jet hold up on Lettra.I would imagine it would bleed a lot since the paper is so absorbent. Have you tried this? Its a great idea I have also toyed with, I may have to give it a run through my ink jet to see!

Bunny Bear Press replied to the topic cutting parent sheets down to size in the forum Business Matters 14 years, 1 month ago
They charge $10 per size. So for example if you are having your paper cut to A6 and A2 then it would be $20.As an update, I decided to go to Kelly Paper to get my paper cut. They were super nice and actually only charged me for 2 of the 3 cuts they did. 🙂

Thank you for the quick response!I do not have any immediate plans for purchasing a paper cutter. First on my list of equipment is going to be my very own press so I wont have to rent time at another studio :)I think I will just have to up my quantities enough to make the $10 worth while. (Those $10 fees are going to add up quickly!)

Thanks Camille! I did pick it up. It appears to be working, though I haven’t hooked it up to an air compressor yet. I have a friend who is going to tinker with it a bit. I think I am missing the piece that holds the plates or type in place. Do you know what I can get to fit into the slot (on the photo I am uploading) that can hold a copper die?

I am on a mac and I use the whole creative suite to put my ideas in the computer. I will either start in the computer using Illustrator to draw my idea or I will start with a sketch that I scan into Photoshop. I will then convert my art into bitmaps to bring into Illustrator. If you are working with type, Illustrator and InDesign are the way to go…[Read more]

Thank you for the feedback. I am still trying to work it all out, but this definitely helps 🙂 I know I am going to stumble quite a bit, but I don’t want to go in completely blind.
