Samantha Urbanick replied to the topic Broken bolt on platen – Help! in the forum Press Troubleshooting, Tips, and Help 14 years ago
UPDATE: Got the broken bit out. But now I am on the hunt for a replacement impression screw (or “bolt” as I was calling it before. It’s a learning process). I know it’s a stretch, but does anyone have any idea where I could get a new one? I contacted one person from Excelsior Press, and he didn’t know who made them anymore. Is it possible to have…[Read more]

Thanks, Kathryn! That SoySolv looks great, so much easier to use probably, since it is in a spray bottle. I found I was wasting so much of the mineral spirits by pouring it over the rollers. (On that note, check out the site that Courtney put up, and look at the Rubbermaid container trick that printer uses). And I guess I’ll just have to get u…[Read more]

Thanks to both of you wonderful ladies! Courtney – That site is wonderful! I LOVE her solution using the Rubbermaid box! I have a bunch of those in my house already! Perfect. Jen – I will definitely try the vegetable oil trick you mentioned. Also, where do you get Eco wash and California wash? I saw it on one website, (NAGraphics) but it just l…[Read more]

Sandra, Haha, I don’t have any problem with the lurking. And I only got my press last month, so I’m still learning. Send me a message if you have any questions about being a new Pilot owner. (Pictures of mine -unmounted- are on my page) Also, I ended up mounting my press on a sturdy old table I found in my parents basement. Put some extra 2x4s o…[Read more]

Oh, great! Thank you! Any idea where I could find one? Or what search terms I would use to look for one online? As in, does it have a specific name? Thanks again! Samantha

@kseniyathomas Aw, thank you! Still waiting for an email back about my offer. The press is at The Arm in Brooklyn, and they had that crazy snowstorm, so I think that’s why it’s taking so long. Not sure if they’ve re-opened. They don’t have a phone number, either. So, yes, keep those fingers crossed.
