Hi Stephanie! Thank you for your answer. Yes, I’m aware of those punchers. In fact I have some of those in my possession, even a Marthe Stewart one;-) These are especially fun and give good results for corners. To make a nice edge along one side is a different story however. That, I found is very difficult to line up so that it is clean and…[Read more]

Hi Marijane, You should wait just a little longer to book a room – we will have hotel info up on our site in about a week or two, with special conference rates! Official conference scheduling ends on Sunday around noon, with special treats for anyone staying a little later – not yet confirmed, but possible another tour of a print facility, or m…[Read more]

I have been struggling with the same sort of thing – creating my invoices in Illustrator and keeping lots of paper files – I was considering buying a copy of Quick Books. Quick Books sells for just under $150 at MacMall.com, so that;s approximately 16 months worth of Outright. Since no one else has chimed in here I think I’ll try posting a query…[Read more]

I am also in the process of trying to a book a room, air fare to this fabulous convention.I was wondering if there is going to be a preferred hotel, and how long the discussions will last on Sunday. Is it better to book a return on the following Monday.MarijaneButterfly Free Letterpress

Lars K replied to the topic mixing pantone inks in the forum Job Advice 14 years, 2 months ago
I mix onto coated cover paper, leftover from an offset print run. I zero out the triple beam scale each time I mix ink, with the paper sitting on the left side of the scale. There’s no clean up needed after 🙂

Lars K replied to the topic Boxcar deep relief base cuts? in the forum Business Matters 14 years, 2 months ago
Hi Dark Stamper, There are a coupla ways to look at it: – You can simply move the base up a few picas to avoid the gauge pins on your press. – You can also contact a local machinist and have them make a simple smaller base for you out of aluminum. We’ve done this for our large Heidelberg KS cylinder press, which takes a much larger base size th…[Read more]

Hey Kristina, We’re thinking of starting registration at 10am on Friday morning, but the first event will be at 1:30pm. We’re also thinking of asking volunteers to meet on Thursday (probably early afternoon), to get things going smoothly, if you were thinking of volunteering. Jessica

davina farinola replied to the topic Uneven Inking/Re-Leveling the Platen in the forum Press Troubleshooting, Tips, and Help 14 years, 2 months ago
Bit of an old thread but simple question, when leveling the platen by adjusting the screws, if I have an un-packed platen, should you aim for good deep impression or just a ‘kiss’ and rely on the platen packing to gain a deep impression after its leveled? – have been debating with father!

Where are you located? Maybe you can hook up with another printer in your area like I do…they do the cutting and you can deliver some cookies! Good Luck.

Hello all,Thanks for your answers, especially about the scales/balances. Do you use a scoop or freezer paper on the scale or just clean the scale off when done? I understand the proportions and thank you for the refresher course on that. This is why I love Ladies of Letterpress!Ren
