Manila file folders work well for me. they come in two thicknesses. If I need a bit more thickness, a sheet or two of smooth paper for the copier goes…[Read more]

We discontinued buying Katz a few years ago when the cracking issue developed. It used to be a fine coaster but…something changed. It sounds like others in this thread experienced this as well. I don’t believe the coaster stock is grained like other types of paper, and the problems routinely surfaced whenever we hit the stock relatively hard.…[Read more]

I haven’t done any deep impressions, so don’t know about the cracking. They do absorb water, much like the coasters at a bar. But, if you spray them with an automotive enamel (both sides) then they last much longer. I found a triple-thick auto glaze that is like a resin surface, so there’s always that. The auto finishes are better and more stable…[Read more]

I buy from Katz America, especially square coasters and 4×6 postcards out of the same coaster stock. Have always had a good experience.

I use a KINGSLEY HOTFOIL MACHINE. there are always examples for sale on eBay. If you’re still looking, check out the Kingsley. Stick with model M-60 or above, so that you have a two-line machine and therefore more versatile. you only really need the pneumatic function if you are doing hundreds of imprints at a time. also, check out the…[Read more]

Hi Michelle! I was looking for a Golding Pearl for similar reasons earlier this year, but ended up with a C&P Pilot. One person who was really helpful in guiding me was John Falstrom of Perrenial Designs. http://www.perennialdesigns.net/ He restores Golding machines and had a lot of valuable advice about Goldings and the quality of other ma…[Read more]
