I would think they are the same thing. Just make sure they are .918″ high and made of some good metal, like, magnesium, copper, or lead. They should be mounted on wood or metal. Ebay is a great source for them.

I’ll stop in on the 14th and then setup fully on the 15th. My booth is tiny so it shouldn’t be too bad. i’m making the “dress rehearsal” next week. ;)how about shirts on the 17th? 2nd day of the show? i’m up for whatever. also someone mentioned before about hanging a sign in any LOL’s booth. Maybe the logo? then everyone can connect us all. we…[Read more]

sounds great Kseniya! this may be dorky, but should all of us LOL’s wear our tshirts on a given day? maybe that’s too silly, but i think it could support all of us out there. people will keep seeing us everywhere. 😉 glad to have the meeting spot. what day are y’all going to get there and start setting up?

Kathryn Hunter replied to the topic Question about symbols in type in the forum Type 14 years, 8 months ago
I got a box with assorted sizes from M&H as well, about 6 years ago. Then I found a misc box that came with my type that had old ones inside. So they did make them, in fact they are on my California case “map”. But none were found in any of my type drawers years ago when I actually looked through all of them. 😉

Kathryn Hunter replied to the topic oil for press? in the forum Supplies and Sources 14 years, 11 months ago
Hi,I’m not sure what kind of press you use but my good ole Platen Press handbook, says to use SAE 30. That’s what I use on my C&P.best,Kathryn

Kathryn Hunter replied to the topic Where to get thick chipboard? in the forum Supplies and Sources 15 years ago
I got a “bundle” from a local offset printer down the street from me. They bought it from their supplier which is Mac Papers around here. Don’t know of a cranberry color, just the kraft and gray. The thick stuff (kraft brown) I got is 22pt. Not sure this helps since it isn’t the color you are looking for.best, kathryn

i also did not like Lettra, but it is a cheaper cotton paper (if I could afford Pescia for everything I would use it only), so now that i’ve used it for a while, it has grown on me. i have tried scoring it as well, and i do believe it has a grain, so folding that way does help, but not every time……. 🙂 Legion paper is fast and you can now…[Read more]

Kathryn Hunter replied to the topic true vegetable based ink in the forum Supplies and Sources 15 years, 5 months ago
Hey Cat,Kseniya posted something about inks (really good info) at http://ladiesofletterpress.ning.com/profiles/blogs/on-soy-inks. I had a client a couple of years ago that really wanted all soy inks, green paper etc. and through my research i could not find a total soy ink. Gans makes one that has soy in it but also has synthetic rubber as well. I…[Read more]

I’m with ya girls, i had a similar experience. It felt terrible. I also ask where the design came from before moving forward. Really lucky to have caught that one, Kseniya. Good job! Just because I might be cheaper than other big presses, doesn’t mean I will print their designs. what are those people thinking?
