I just saw the question about cotton paper. I did a business card on Crane Lettra 110# and another on Reich 236# with that same PMS 812. They are actually a lot brighter in person.http://bunnybearpress.com/portfolio/businessandcallingcards/bunny-bear-press-qr-code-cards/If you want to go fluorescent I would recommend a whiter paper to get the br…[Read more]

This pediatrician believes the dangers of small lead exposures have been overstated. Worth checking out: http://www4.hmc.edu:8001/chemistry/Pb/resources/pb-tainted%20science.pdf

Elana,It’s a good habit to have the MSDS (Materials Safety Data Sheet) on file for all of your inks and solvents. Van Son Rubber Base is one of the lowest-toxicity inks you will find. (see #11 on the sheet)Again, from my own experience, my little one is robustly healthy, and has been meeting all of her developmental milestones at or ahead of…[Read more]

Kelly – Thanks for your thoughts. Congrats on your little one!It is just stressful because it’s hard to know if I’m finding the relevant research, and doctors don’t really have any idea what we are working with. Do you know if there is any precautions to be taken with being around ink? I never gave any thought to being exposed to Van Son…[Read more]

Hi Elana,Congratulations! I just went through this myself–I now have a six month old baby girl.I had my lead levels tested at 18 weeks, and was on the low side of normal…and I set type fairly regularly, though not every day, but I work around it 60+ hours/week. My doctors didn’t seem that concerned, either. That said, they were a bit more…[Read more]

Hi Adina:Thanks for your reply! We are foil stampers and will be acquiring a Heidelberg in the next month or so to start printing. We’re actually in Vancouver BC and have a class lined up here but it’s not on a Heidelberg and wanted someone to actually come out for some training once it’s up and running. I’ll keep looking to see what I come up w…[Read more]

Hi Melanie,I did not. Currently I am printing on a 10×15 C&P and don’t have plans at this point to print on a Heidelberg. Do you have a Heidelberg that you don’t know how to use? Or were you hoping to learn first and then purchase your machine? You may want to contact either Pratt or SVC and see if they can point you in the direction of a teacher. Adina

Hi Tiffany! I realize this is months late….but I figured I’d share.I did purchase new rollers. That was probably 80% of the problem. I’ve made notes on certain types of fonts that are causing me problems too. After I put in my new rollers, I’ve had to adjust the roller height a good bit, so clearly, the old rollers were pretty worn. I’m still…[Read more]

Hope Johnson replied to the topic Reliable (Pre-Cut) Paper Supplier??? in the forum Supplies and Sources 11 years, 8 months ago
I use Legion most of the time. They are pretty great and the most affordable I’ve found, for most papers at least. Paperworks just started offering precut papers for Crane Lettra. Every once in a while, I’ll come across one or two pieces with the cutter’s indention, but rare.

Legion and Limited Papers both offer pre-cut sheets, and I think Keldon and Announcement Converters may trim too.
