Do you use Mild Citrus Thinner between colors, or just at the end of the day?

That’s helpful! I’m glad to know they’re called eyelets, too. 🙂 So you just whack them with a hammer? Here are some more colored ones . . .http://www.eyeletoutlet.com/round-eyelets.html

O, you didn’t wind up buying the Ultra Wash?

How does Ultra smell? I ask because I think I’m at the end of being able to use California Wash–I can’t stand the odor any more! Someone here wrote once about using alcohol instead . . . we use Crisco for the final wash of the day, but could use something less obnoxious for color changes.

Kseniya Thomas replied to the topic Uneven Inking/Re-Leveling the Platen in the forum Press Troubleshooting, Tips, and Help 14 years, 9 months ago
If you haven’t solved this already, you might check to make sure that the base hasn’t worked up from uneven quoin tightening, causing the inking to be heavier on the side that’s higher up in the chase. Do you have a level surface for locking up?

@visualchemist I just got my coaster stack, and I am blown away. Not only is each one a little work of art, but your cd-insert slip is really really great as well. We LOVE your typography coaster! Thank you so much for organizing the swap!

Hey there! In a pinch, you can use tyvek (like priority mail envelopes from the post office) . . .

Kseniya Thomas replied to the topic sheets warping?? in the forum Design Side 14 years, 10 months ago
It does, but I think only if the paper is damp or if it’s going around a cylinder . . . or if the press involves water or dampness!

That’s funny! I don’t have any litho experience, but could it be that they were thinking of the paper warping as the cylinder or blanket got warm, or something? I think you can safely answer “an infinite number!”

Kseniya Thomas replied to the topic oil for press? in the forum Supplies and Sources 14 years, 11 months ago
We use heavy-duty gear oil from the auto parts store (SAE 90, I think), and lithium grease on some of the cams, on our c+ps.

Kseniya Thomas replied to the topic inconsistent impression with photopolymer plates in the forum Type 14 years, 11 months ago
Hi! Is there possibly anything in the way of the base that’s preventing the platen from meeting the bed? Are you placing the plate on the same place on the base each time? The press is so small that it doesn’t seem like the platen’s being mal-adjusted would be much of an issue, but you never know.

You’re right–Strathmore is a part of Mohawk. I’ve used both, and I don’t think there’s much of a difference once they’re printed. Strathmore writing has at least 25% cotton content, so is pricier but also prettier.
