Yes, on the drip pans. Sealing the floor is a good idea. You should leave at least two feet behind and between the presses, so you can oil the presses and other maintenance…personally I like enough room to allow for a 40 inch skid. Work surface should be minimum the size of your chase for lock up….bigger is better. Shelving as much as you can…[Read more]

Haha, I wondered if that was you. I am probably going to part out a 10×15 OS C&P this summer. I’m fairly sure that most parts on the OS and the NS will interchange. Here is one picture of the left side saddle. Please contact me directly to discuss this further if you wish.

Are there any Laddies of Letterpress that want to try this and chime in? It would be interesting to see if there is a difference between the Ladies and Laddies. I’m going to venture a guess that the reds are harder for the gentlemen.

Camille Robin replied to the topic mixing pantone inks in the forum Job Advice 13 years, 9 months ago
I use a triple beam scale to weigh my ink, some people like the postal digital scales. Just remember to mix your ink about two shades (PSM#) lighter. But be careful because sometimes two shades lighter is a completely different color. Transparent white will help to thin the pigments in the ink if needed.

Here is a picture of the original base that goes with a Pilot. It is made of steel. It has slots for chases, in the drawer there is a place to store the rollers, and shelves for your tools, ink, etc. The press bolts to the top.

Sarah, from the picture it’s hard to tell how much rust there is or if the press has been painted in the past. It looks like the pulley for the motor is there (draped on the inside of the curved flywheel). Follow the shaft (inside the press) from that flywheel to the gear side (right hand side of picture), look to see if in the middle of the shaft…[Read more]

Is the press on a skid? The type cabinets and etc. would not be to hard for you to move. Are you planning on renting a truck with a lift gate?

Camille Robin replied to the topic Should I buy this press?? in the forum Supplies and Sources 13 years, 9 months ago
Hi Sarah,Did you buy this press? It is an old style C&P, you can tell because the fly wheel has curved spokes. The serial number should be on the upper left hand side of the bed, which you can use to date it. It was probably made in the late 1800’s, early 1900’s…yes, 100 years old. I have two of them, one with a treadle and one with a motor and…[Read more]
